“They’re going to park your car, not inspect it!” laughed my husband, catching me in the rare act of actually vacuuming my car.
What can I say? I’ve never had a valet park my car before, but the website of the luxury hotel at which I had made reservations said ‘valet parking’ was to be provided. I wasn’t sure how ashamed I should be about showing up for such service with an 11 year old economy car (I always had pictured valets parking vehicles such as a Lexus or a Mercedes), but I certainly needn’t hand over my humble car rife with dirty mats & candy wrappers...
So, yeah, the occasion was a concert by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Back in October, when circumstances dictated that I work many, many more hours than I ordinarily would, in an all too frequent moment of stress & exhaustion I said to myself, “Carla, you need a reward for all this hard work. Something to look forward to.”
So I went on-line & purchased the best available tickets to the TSO concert, which was to take place in Portland, Maine, on the evening of Nov 9. Hubby wasn’t interested, but I got Amy in on the plan. And just for good measure, I included the luxury hotel in my plans so I wouldn’t have to drive home that night.
The show totally lived up to my expectations- Amy & I enjoyed every minute of the 2 & 1/2 hour production- as did the hotel. I’d never experienced ‘turn down service’ and ‘good night chocolates’ before.
And so, with a refreshed spirit, a clean car, and a more normal work schedule to look forward to, I’m home again.
