A children's poem by Garnet
“Mandy Lynn!” said her mother
“Now go brush your hair-
You’re wasting time
Just standing there!”
“I was only thinking...”
Mandy started to say,
“How the world would be
If things all went MY way!”
Her mother laughed,
“How would that be,
My dear girl
If Little Miss Mandy ruled the world!”
“I’d start every day,” explained little Mandy
“Being served a breakfast of chocolate candy.
It would be served to me by a little elf,
And then my bed would make itself!”
“A half-dozen fairies
Would appear in the air
And they would brush
And curl my hair!”
“We’d go to school,
My friends and I,
But not on a bus-
Oh, no, we’d fly!
“At school the fairies
Would stay near
To whisper answers
In my ear!”
“ ‘Good work!’”
All my teachers would say,
Then my friends and I
Would fly away!”
“We’d go to our club-house
(It’s a castle, really)
We’d dress up like princesses
Have fun and act silly!”
“Then home I would fly
So light and care-free
With a hug for my Mommy
Who’d be waiting for me.”
“That’s all very nice,” her Mom said,
But don’t fuss-
You really can’t fly
So you must catch the bus!”
