From the Sunday Boston Globe Magazine, you see,
Which I usually peruse when I need recipes,
The slender column, quarter-page blurb caught my eye
And I couldn’t help but to ask myself why
Not see, for laughs, what advice they’ve crammed in
To this wisp of an article, brief and thin....
Ironically eschewing romantic sources
They consulted 3 lawyers who deal in divorces.
The first said, in order to keep the allure
A good married couple has got to be sure
Not to hold each other in too tight a grip
Cause mystique disappears when you’re joined at the hip...
The second said lack of intimacy will snag ya
Gotta keep that end up, even if it takes Viagra...
The third said communication is the key
And there should be a Marriage University
Where they learn to communicate, learn to agree
‘Cause with two there’s no tiebreaker,
That’d take three!
At that I took a moment to think smugly
That my honey and I deserve our Marriage Degree
‘Cause for us, it’s Valentine’s Day
Twenty Three!

Belated congratulations on your 23rd anniversary, Garnet! I so like your poems!
Thanks, Paul! Actually, I wrote this poem about three years ago, and 4/27 is our 26th anniversary! *runs off for anniversary get-away*
