They are usually seen in People Magazine, or on the internet. Fashion critique pieces, that is. There are even TV shows centered around the concept.
The critics spend more time crafting clever criticism than formulating praise, probably because that's what people want to hear. They want to hear that those beautiful Hollywood women are not all they're cracked up to be, dispite the fact that they're dressed in gowns that are worth more than the GDP of a third world country.
The ironic thing is that the outfits which end up being trashed don't look (to me) any worse than that outfits that are lauded. I can't tell 'hideous fashionable' from 'hideous faux pas'...

I reckon there is a closet bitch and a closet gossip inside all of us. It is an Australian national trait to tear down the successful in any field. This phenomena even has a name, the tall poppy syndrome. Folks here are ofyen wary of sticking their head up for fear of having it cut off. It's unhealthy, but maybe a little bitch about fashion is excusable.
Don't tell anyone but I can't tell the differenve either.
