Spin

It’s not the word itself, I guess, but what it connotes.

The baggage it carries, the image it brings to mind.

Used. As in ‘used cars.’ The discovery that ‘used’ does not sell brought on ‘pre-owned.’ And then ’pre-titled.’ Which would sound much better than ’used,’ I suppose, if the euphemism wasn’t laughably transparent.

For some reason they keep changing the name of those roof window thingys, too, though I can’t figure out what the problem with ’sun roof’ (which is what I’ve always known them as) is. Maybe ’moon roof’ sounds more romantic.

But today even the moon is passe- lately I caught an ad for a vehicle with a ’vista roof.’ Vista? How stupid is that?
