Value
My
husband and daughter
Lovingly
Call
me a cheapskate.
It’s
not true!
Ok,
maybe it is
But
I prefer the word ‘thrifty.’
I
look for value.
Take
vacations.
Oh,
sure, we’ll splurge when we feel the need
(The
Four Seasons sees us
At
least once a year)
But
nothing beats my annual Value Vacation.
Just
me and my tent
Twenty
two dollars a night
No
electricity
No
flush toilets
No
showers
Notebook,
yes. I write poems
Frolic
like a freshwater mermaid
Splashing
among river-worn rocks,
Dining
on secret treats:
Beanie
Weenies and chicharrones.
Oh,
and don’t call me. There’s no cell service.
Heaven
for three whole days!
Now
that’s value.

I love your sense of irony -- juxtaposition priceless wilderness with making a thrifty deal.
