Bug Memories

Last week my Dad got rid of the last of his Volkswagon Bug collection.   The Bugs served us well during the energy crunch of the ‘70s, and at the time it took a collection of intact Bugs and ‘parts’ Bugs to keep a one or two Bugs road-worthy enough for my Dad’s 20 mile commute to work.  The last of the collection consisted of 5 rusty bugs & one Karmann Ghia (none in working order), 12 engines, and this Volkswagon Wolfsburg hood emblem, circa 1956.  Steve asked to keep the emblem, & Dad said OK.  Though it’s a little dinged and gashed, it’s still an artful, finely detailed work of enamel.
