...what I do when I’m at work...
“Compared to other healthcare professionals, pharmacists answer and make more telephone calls, give more FREE professional advice, and ring more cash registers. They personally re-bill and adjudicate insurance claims, and they may deal with more drug abuse/law enforcement issues.
They do all this while supervising cashiers/technicians dealing with client/patient (“customer” in retail lingo) complaints, putting up orders, making orders, performing corporate paperwork according to company policies and procedures, and... oh, I forgot... reading, interpreting, and checking the accuracy of prescriptions.
And let us not forget checking for drug interactions and allergies, and verifying dosage forms, correct dose, amount, direction and appropriateness of drug therapy on hundreds of prescriptions per day while counseling patients on how best to take these medications, any of which could kill or injure under certain circumstances."

As a pharmacist myself I agree. Most people just don't understand. I suppose they have in mind the image of a pharmacist sitting in the back of a soda shop. The Andy Griffith show had a drugstore like that.
From Wkipedia~
"The counter-service soda fountain was introduced in 1903, and around that same time, drugstores began to attract noontime customers by adding sandwiches and light lunches."
Those days are long gone.

Years ago, it seemed you rarely "talked" to the pharmacist except to pay your bill. Now, they're much more engaged in the process of dispensing information as well as medications/ It's a nice change. :-)
